With July comes another edition of the Rapid Environment Picture (REP) exercise, once more co-organized by LSTS and the Portuguese Navy. The exercise will take place off the coast of Sesimbra covering a large set of goals.
Technological Goals

Persistent operations with multiple vehicles with applications in security, defense, and science;

Simplified launch and recovery procedures for underwater, surface, and air vehicles to minimize logistic support;

Distributed ocean space center for remote situational awareness and tasking of heterogeneous vehicles;

Vehicles with multi-domain (air-surface) capabilities for sampling and communications networking;
-
MIDAR capability demonstrations;
-
Coordinated ASV/UAV operations with vision based landing;
-
Coupling remote sensing and field operations;
-
Integrated data management for situational awareness – distributed ocean space center.
Scientific Goals

UAS-based sea surface temperature and ocean color measurements;

Sampling internal waves;
-
Coastal fronts/Lagrangian structures.
Security/Defense Goals
-
Characterization of side-scan and magnetometer performance;
-
Multi-vehicle cooperative mine warfare.
